In the context of standardizing the quality of Indigofera Seed and Sapling products, a team from the Directorate of Feed (Dit Pakan) at the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH) of the Ministry of Agriculture conducted an assessment of the seed source garden of Indigofera zollingeriana variety Gozoll Agribun at the Singosari Artificial Insemination Center (BBIB Singosari). This activity is part of the certification process for the indigofera seed source garden at BBIB Singosari. The certification of this seed garden is conducted to legalize the production of indigofera with assured quality, sustainability, and availability.

This certification process begins with the request for the designation of the seed source garden and the producer's recommendation for indigofera as requested by BBIB Singosari to Dit Pakan, Ditjen PKH. Subsequently, a Technical Feasibility Assessment Team consisting of Plant Breeders from the Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, Quality Supervisors of Dit Pakan, and BPMSP Bekasi visited BBIB Singosari to directly assess the suitability of the seed source garden.

The seed source garden must meet various requirements, including soil and climate conditions, which encompass factors such as altitude, topography, drainage, soil fertility, soil type, soil acidity, and rainfall in the seed source garden location.

The second requirement is related to the Location, including accessibility. Accessibility refers to the ease of access to the land; availability and management of water; isolation from other plant species; having a minimum land area of 2500m2 for legumes and a minimum of 3000m2 for grass in one plot; land security, which includes land status; not located in areas endemic to Plant Pest Organisms; safe from flood and landslide disturbances, and located in livestock development areas.

Based on the assessment by the assessment team, the BBIB Singosari seed source garden has been declared to meet the eligibility standards, and the next step will involve issuing the Decision Letter for the Designation of Indigofera Seed Source Garden. This designation letter will then serve as the basis for issuing the Seed Certification by BPMSP Bekasi. Seed Certification is provided for superior varieties of livestock feed plants, ensuring their production and distribution are monitored.
