MALANG - During his visit to the Singosari Center for Artificial Insemination (BBIB) in Malang Regency, East Java, Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan) Harvick Hasnul Qolbi appreciated the efforts to develop superior disease-free frozen semen.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister stressed the importance of increasing the quality of frozen semen production to meet domestic demand for beef and to reduce imports. According to the Deputy Minister, frozen semen plays a vital role in increasing the population of beef cattle in Indonesia.
"Even though BBIP Singosari has developed rapidly, we still emphasize improving the quality of frozen semen. However, I see positive developments, because cement production is carried out according to strict standards and using advanced technology," said the vice minister on Friday, August 25, 2023.
The Vice Minister also stated that the Ministry of Agriculture through BBIB Singosari continues to strive to increase the number of cattle populations by optimizing the reproduction program through artificial insemination from year to year.
"Production optimization must be carried out on a large scale throughout Indonesia," he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of BBIB Singosari, expressed his gratitude for the support given by Deputy Minister Harvick for the development of national quality frozen semen production. Until now, BBIB has been able to produce around 3.3 million doses of frozen semen annually.
"This is an important step to support the increase in the livestock population, especially cattle on a national scale," he said.
As additional information, BBIB Singosari continues to be active in supporting the reproduction optimization of the Sikomandan Program (Country Mainstay Buffalo Cattle). "This collaboration ensures that the national livestock program continues, which will eventually lead to achieving self-sufficiency in animal protein in Indonesia," he explained.
