Fertilizer serves the purpose of providing nutrients to the soil to meet the nutritional needs of plants. Continuous planting activities can lead to a reduction or loss of essential nutrients in the soil. Therefore, the application of fertilizer is necessary to replenish the soil's nutrient content. Fertilizers come in two types: chemical and organic. Long-term use of chemical fertilizers can make the soil hard due to increased acidity levels, resulting in poor water penetration. Organic fertilizer here provides a solution to supply nutrients to the soil while simultaneously maintaining its structure.
On Thursday, May 4, 2023, BBIB Singosari conducted an In-House Training on Organic Fertilizers. The event was attended by BBIB Singosari employees and students who were conducting field practice and studies at BBIB Singosari. The speakers delivering the material were Marto Utomo, S.ST, and Niko Aria Putra, both of whom are feed experts from BBIB Singosari.
In his presentation, Niko stated, “Prolonged use of chemical fertilizers can damage soil structure due to the binding agents present in them. Organic fertilizers contain microelements that are not present in chemical fertilizers. These microelements can repair and restore soil structure.”
On the same occasion, Marto Utomo said, “Organic fertilizers are easy to produce independently using readily available materials such as leftover feed, animal waste, or leaves. Because they come from natural sources, organic fertilizers are healthier, free from chemical residues and harmful bacteria. This results in healthier plant products from the soil.”
In-House Training is a routine agenda organized by BBIB Singosari, serving as a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences that can be applied for the advancement of BBIB Singosari. (*)
