• Inbreeding is the mating between two individuals with very close blood relations, such as mother with offspring, father with offspring, and offspring with offspring. If this happens in cattle, it will bring out undesirable genes from the parent. Inbreeding should be avoided in livestock breeding efforts for cattle, goats, and sheep.
• Line breeding is the mating of two individuals with relatively close blood relations. In animal husbandry, this should also be avoided. Mating between animals with close blood relations can result in offspring of lower quality, although line breeding is still preferable to inbreeding. Line breeding can be performed if the animals to be bred already possess the best traits, even if they share the same lineage.
• Crossbreeding is the mating of two individuals with no or minimal blood relations. Crossbreeding is highly beneficial in livestock breeding to obtain quality offspring.
• Super breed refers to individuals that consistently pass down the best traits to their offspring. Super breeds are used to improve livestock genetics, resulting in high-quality and exceptional offspring. They inherit positive traits from their parents.

In livestock breeding, prevention of inbreeding is necessary to ensure the quality of cattle offspring. One of the aims of artificial insemination is to prevent inbreeding.
